This portfolio includes assets that have been consolidated by the government of India under the Enemy Property Act, 1968. It allows the government to take possession of properties belonging to individuals who are deemed ‘enemies’ of the state. This law was originally enacted during the India-Pakistan War of 1965 to confiscate the properties of individuals who had migrated to Pakistan. The law was amended in 2017 to prevent the heirs of those who migrated to Pakistan and China during wars from reclaiming their inherited properties.
